My version of the Dan Blanton classic striper fly is all-synthetic for easier casting. I like this fly when fish are holding near the bottom in both still and moving water. It’s equally good when stripers are feeding on larger threadfins, blueback herring, or gizzard shad. Whistlers mimic bucktail jigs, the greatest of all conventional striper lures. It’s also my choice in stained water because it “pushes” more water than a striper pig.
